In a small Louisiana town, a veteran detective would encounter a serial rapist who had been terrorizing his city for ten years, the brutal murders of four elderly women and a stand off with a fellow officer who'd just murdered his wife. Even this wouldn't  prepare him for the viciousness of politics and media greed when he becomes the Chief....

Chief Tony Caruso's goal was to create a police force which would make a positive difference in the community they served. Sadly, corruption, politicians, journalists and even enemies within his department had their own agenda.

To reporters of the Alemette Journal, it was a sensational opportunity to increase sales. On fire with racial tension, an increasing crime rate and a new white Police Chief, this southern town's division had begun.

  During my tenure we were able to; ~Accomplish the implementation of citywide Community Policing with community service divisions to work with Neighborhood Watch groups.
~Implemented Reverse 911 system
~Established a Web site for the department with an anonymous-tips section for narcotics and criminal investigations
~Moved the narcotics division from a  parishwide task force back within the city department

Hindsight is 20/20. My being the police chief was the worst decision in my career. I loved law enforcement~In investigations you are on solid ground, there's right and wrong. The politics involved in being the chief, at least for me was always sinking sand.

Happy to see the city police will finally get their life-saving bearcat.
